A Word from the VOTR Founder…

"Many of us have listened to a pastor's sermon and become totally convinced he was speaking specifically about us, when many times it was only those things common to everyone. In the VOTR web site, our purpose is to address all the common issues and challenges which face the Remnant. Even though the specific situations, names and places are different, we are all one Remnant called by God and united for the Gospel of Christ."

Statement Of Faith

This "Statement Of Faith" is similar to many other Christian groups. All are stated in summary form, in different ways and with different emphasis, and so we recognize they are incomplete at best. For that reason, we hold and trust the Bible as our complete and final Statement Of Faith as one reads, prays and is guided by God's Holy Spirit into all truth.

We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the final authority for all we believe and how we are to live.

We believe that there is one true God, existing eternally in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that these comprise one God, equal in deity, power and glory.

We believe that man was created in the image of God, righteous and without sin. However, we believe that the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God and sinned. By his free choice man brought sin into the human race subjecting it to corruption, disobedience and judgment. After death every human being stands before God for judgment of sins.

We believe there is a literal Hell, a place of torment and eternal separation from God. Those who physically die in their sins without receiving forgiveness are hopelessly and eternally lost and have no further opportunity of repenting and being saved. In life or death we are unable to save ourselves or do anything of ourselves to be accepted by God. It is only through Christ’s death on the cross and His resurrection that we have forgiveness for our sins and can be saved and accepted by God.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, that He was conceived and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a sacrifice for sinners. Through His death on the cross and bodily resurrection he obtained for us forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. He ascended into heaven and is now reigns at the right hand of God where He is the One Savior and Mediator for all mankind, fully God, fully man. He will return soon in power and glory to judge both the living and the dead and to fulfill the restoration of all things.

We believe that Satan and his fallen angels are the embodiment of spiritual evil and will at the judgment of all things be cast forever into hell nevermore to tempt or harm mankind.

We believe that should God choose, He can still perform signs and wonders today in order to demonstrate His presence and power. We further believe the Lord enables the gifts of the Holy Spirit among His people as described in the Bible to empower and edify the church in fulfilling its calling and mission. We also acknowledge that Satan and his workers can deceive and counterfeit these signs and gifts making it the duty of every believer to exercise prayer, discernment and knowledge of the scriptures as a safeguard against falsehood.

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. No ordinance, ritual, work, or any other activity on the part of man is required in order to be saved. The Lord's Holy Spirit regenerates, forever living in and equipping the Christian for godly living and work. After conversion, the Spirit desires to fill, empower, and anoint believers for ministry and witness. Christ is present with and in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.
