Remnant Challenges and Spiritual Needs

What can those who accept the Remnant's call expect? One thing is certain, there will be multiple challenges encountered by the Remnant on their journey. The following pages will address some of those challenges and help us identify the areas of needed spiritual focus for the Remnant. Hopefully it will provide us with some encouragement and resources for further study.

Before we go on, it must be said once again, that the Remnant is not anti-church or a new separatist movement. On the contrary, it is God raising up a Remnant to spur on the whole body of Christ into a unity of revival, reformation, and a return to our first love - the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This unity is demonstrated in that the people of the Remnant come from throughout all of Christianity, from among all denominations and church groups, Protestant to Catholic.

However, if history and the Bible have taught us anything, it has shown that from the ancient Hebrews, to the early and contemporary Church, the Lord's people have sometimes wandered from the path of God. The great Prophets of the Bible and Jesus Himself have warned us that there will be false prophets, preachers, teachers, and worldly churches. Jesus states;

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." (Matthew 7:15)

"For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect—if that were possible." (Mark 13:22)

And Jesus rebuked entire churches as well, such as the churches in Sardis and Ephesus as told in the book of Revelation:

 "I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die..." (Rev 3:1-2)

"...I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first..." (Revelation 2:4-5)

Proclaiming such a message today naturally puts the Remnant at odds with secularized churches and the false religious leaders of our time.

As a result, where ever God raises the Remnant, we can expect to face many similar challenges, and to share common areas of intense spiritual focus. We have listed some of those areas here with scriptures and brief insights to help facilitate further study and provide encouragement. They aren't really separate, but overlap and intertwine with each other as you will see.

We have listed (5) of the major areas here;

1) Proclamation & Prophecy

2) Persecution

3) Spiritual Warfare

4) Prayer

5) Evangelism
